Medicare Insurance:
Understanding what the Medicare programs offers you and how its structure works is the most important information you need to know before making decisions regarding which coverage to supplement its gaps.
Medicare is a health insurance program for:
▲ People age 65 or older,
▲ People under age 65 with certain disabilities, and
▲ People of all ages with End-Stage Renal Failure
Medicare is made up of several parts:
Part A- Hospitalization coverage
Part B- Doctor, specialist and preventative care
Part C- an optional coverage through advantage plans HMO/PPO
Part D- Prescription Drug coverage
Enrollment periods:
◊ Open enrollment- turning age 65 (guaranteed issue period)
◊ Annual enrollment- every year from November 15 through December 31
◊ Like to like plans every year from January 1 through March 31
◊ Special enrollment- If you involuntarily lose your health care coverage through your employer or retirement plan
Once you receive your Medicare card in the mail, you will need to make a decision to elect into Medicare or elect out of Medicare. Allow one of our highly qualified agents to explain this complex program to you before making any decisions that will lock you in for the rest of the year.
